A message from the NOWS Program during these challenging times
We hope you and your family are staying safe and healthy during this unprecedented time. As an organization centered on boating safety, we understand the importance of being informed and prepared. We urge boaters and non-boaters alike to seek out trusted public resources for hygiene and preventative measures, such as provided by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO). If you begin to experience symptoms of the virus – fever, cough, or shortness of breath – please seek guidance from a medical professional.
We understand that this moment is a challenge for boating instructors and the boating community as a whole. We know that boating courses, like other educational programs, are being impacted and may be for some time. With time ahead of us spent off-water and isolated, our hope is that this can also be an opportunity to prepare ourselves now for being back on the other later.

We recommend taking advantage of the time to review and update your entry-level courses with the help of the NOWS Resources.

Then, when boating activities ramp up again, your courses will be aligned with national standards, and you will be able to use that status to attract new students to your courses.

There is no doubt we will get through this challenging situation. Together we can build a safer, more resilient world - one community, one at a time.
