Please Avoid the Coast Until the CZU Lightning Complex Wildfire is Contained

To our dear friends who do not live on the coast, we urge you to please stay away from the San Mateo County coast this weekend and until the CZU lightning complex fire has been contained. Wildfires have burned over 50,000 acres of the south coast and 64,000+ people have been evacuated with more evacuations currently underway. For public safety, Caltrans and the Highway Patrol have closed both directions of Highway 1 south of Pescadero. Half Moon Bay beaches have been closed and parking lots are being used by evacuees and support personnel. As you know, there are limited evacuation routes off the coast, so we request your help by staying away so that evacuees and emergency personnel can get through.
