Charlene receiving AGUSM Missionary Appointment
Charlene & Steve Phipps

Charlene's journey with Special Touch Ministry has been a remarkable one, progressing from volunteer staff to Mission Associate to credentialed pastor. Her unwavering commitment to disability ministry has been evident in her work coordinating and launching STM Chapters, Summer Get Aways, Fundraisers, and Online Ministry. She has also been instrumental in raising awareness within churches and communities about the importance of welcoming individuals with disabilities.

Charlene and her husband, Steve, share a passion for creating opportunities for individuals with disabilities to experience the love of Jesus. Below she shares with us their next steps as they move forward.

We are honored to congratulate and welcome them as fully-appointed Missionaries.

"Thankful, excited, blessed, honored, and humbled. These are just a few of the words that express how we are feeling about taking the step we just completed in our journey.

During the training I was reminded of my first time serving with Special Touch Ministry as a caregiver at the Summer Get Away. I was excited, scared and unsure what was ahead of me that week. I had never cared for someone with a disability before. I served that week and truly fell in love. I served as a caregiver a few more years before being called into this ministry. God had a plan from that first mission trip, and I feel that is why the enemy tried to fill me with fear.

What is God calling you to do that is causing fear to rise? Trust God don’t listen to the fear.

This next step (Full Missionary Appointment) will open doors that may have not otherwise been opened. We will have more opportunities to reach the lost for Christ. God has a plan, and we are walking in faith as He guides us through it.

This next step is going to require us to build a team.

  • Having a team that will keep us in prayer daily is huge.

  • We need a team of volunteers that can be "boots on the ground" when help is needed.

  • We need a team that will share our ministry and the opportunities we offer to reach those with disabilities and their families.

  • We need a team of monthly financial supporters. As Missionaries, we are required to raise our budget and that will help us stay on the field spreading the gospel.

Would you be a part of our team?"
