Just another day in the lives of these coal miners. Day and night are the same working in the mine. In the photo above coal miners are loaded into a coal mine car to begin their decent into the mine as the workday begins. Below, a coal miner is wearing the results of his labor. These two photos and the collection of West Virginia Coal Miners was taken at the Consumer Coal Company in Rachel, West Virginia. The photo below was shot on December 23, 1936. Merry Christmas!
