ART IMITATING LIFE

The debate goes on. Which one is it? Art imitating life or the other way around. For all movie buffs the connection should be clear. The photo above we call "Take Me Back Home"; Virginia c.1923. If you have never seen the film "The Jerk" (1979) starring Steve Martin you will not see the connection to the family home. A serious piece of Americana for DPI takes on a comedic interpretation in the film. Below, it doesn't get much better than this. "Wally World"; Colorado (July 1948). See "National Lampoon's Vacation" (1983) starring Chevy Chase. Of course. Clark, Aunt Edna, Audrey, Ellen and Rusty. Dinky (the dog) is no longer with us. An image too good to be true. And don't forget the family truckster. See more images from our People collection. For information regarding licensing any of our newsletter images please use the contact link below.
