Subject: Why we don't do Freight - Must Read!

Hello to all our active and prospective Licensees!

Many people have asked if YouAreTheBroker.com is a freight broker - absolutely NOT!  In fact, over the years I have been solicited to get involved with freight brokering, but I continue to rejected each and every solicitation.  Bottom line, it doesn't fit my lifestyle and it's not the financial "sweet spot" I'm looking for in my broker business.  Please read the email I received yesterday from one of our active Licensees who comes from the freight industry.  If you were in attendance at our July 2018 seminar you know who this is:

Joel, after reading your email yesterday, I figured I’d shoot you a quick email to update you on our status.

Our end of year UPS Peak was a bit challenging last year.  We had two long term contractors retire and 4 more went back to the Walmart contract. Walmart is hiring big time and it definitely affects us. What I was left with was plain and simple trash! I fired the majority at years end and also lost one of my trucks to a $15,000 repair - down for 5 weeks.

We did secure the Lowes account after months of red tape. To date, one store has been online for two weeks, another starts this Monday and two more are slated by April. The down side is the Lowes account means I’m buying the tractors but the trailers and moffetts are leased to us - definitely a bit different from the original plan, but our new direction for the company is to go local and get off the road, thereby keeping our drivers local and home every night. This will increase our ability to attract good drivers….And so the hiring process has begun.

But the good news with us staying local is we are in a much better position to launch our broker business. We are pretty much all set and ready to go – already working with some prospective contractors. I regret the previously mentioned issues that distracted my attention away from this broker biz, but these distractions just reaffirm why I’m committed to being successful with our broker biz.

The reason why he mentions Walmart is because Walmart is rapidly hiring truck drivers to meet demand.  This is causing the freight industry to become more and more competitive and harder to retain reliable truck drivers.  Again, just one more reason I have no interest to deal with the nonsense in the freight industry.

Next week, I'll be back down south to meet with some of my contractors who I have not yet had the pleasure to meet.  In fact, one of them has been working in my broker business for over two years and I have yet to meet him personally.  He's a "rising star" - been so busy our paths have failed to cross.

I will also be in Charlotte and some other areas meeting with some potential retail partners.  In my broker business, we've been doing some work through the Charlotte area, but I've actually been avoiding sticking my flag pole in the ground.  My hopes were to find a good, credible Licensee to blow that market up, but the couple of prospects we were considering flaked out.

The point is, so many markets are so ripe for the taking you just can't ignore them anymore.   My goal was to his $3 million in sales last year and we fell a little short - $2.83 million.  Needless to say, if I plant my flag pole in Charlotte and blow that up this year then exceeding $3 million in 2019 should be a layup.

Bottom line, there are too many ways to make money - too many "open markets" ripe for the taking.  As I mentioned in my previous newsletter, if you're an active Licensees, please feel free to contact us for ANY help and support.  Your success is our success.  Our goal is increase our capacity all across the country so we can engage the supply chain management of these national retailers and corporate clients.

See you at the Top!
