Subject: When they start pulling trips and revenue plummets…

Hello everyone,

This is Dan.  We have been corresponding with a new client provider this morning who, as you will see for obvious reasons, is in obvious distress.  The below message is his initial message (minus some key information blacked out for security purposes) that he sent us and has given us permission to share.  The underlying messages couldn’t be more obvious, and because we have witnessed this scenario many times over, and if you don’t think it can happen to you, I would encourage you to reconsider:

Dear Joel and Team,

My name is Kevin (Blank) from (City,State). I started (Name of company) in 2018 and have been watching Joel on and off from the very beginning but as you are about to learn I pretty much never followed anything he said because, honestly, I didn’t have to.  I had a fast start with Logisticare and then added MTM. Between the two, they fed us so many trips I almost couldn’t keep up.  I went from 1 to 10 vehicles in two years. We added more in 2021 and thought we were on top of the world hitting just over a million in sales.  Then, MTM lost the contract to A2C and our house of cards started to fall. A2C rates were slightly less, but our trip volume also fell. I can’t tell you how many attempts I made at haggling with them about trip volume and reimbursements.  It’s not to say we didn’t have issues with the other brokers too, we did but they didn’t slash our trip volume.  We lost over 30% last year. The hits just kept on coming because Modivcare lost to Saferide at the end of last year and their per trip rates are higher but surprise, surprise, their trip volume is now dropping. YTD, we are projected to be down 43% from our 2021 high and we aren’t even half way thru Q2. Who knows where we will be at year end!  The reason why I am sharing all of this is because I need help.  If nothing changes I have no idea what the bottom looks like all the while I have nothing.  Everything I had and saved on the way up has long since disappeared and we will be running on fumes very soon.  What is the crazy part of all of this is I kept watching and listening to Joel and there were many times it was like I had Joel in the back of my head telling me not to do this and not to do that but as he said in one of his videos I fell in love with the stripper and got hit hard.  I know I screwed things up in a big way and if you will take me on as a client I will do whatever I have to do to fix this ship. You have warned all of us for years but I didn’t listen. You work with buyers and sellers and I don’t even have anything to sell after all of these years.  Please let me know if you have the time and availability to help.  I can promise you that my pride won’t be an issue.  I have experienced a healthy dose of humility.

Thank you,
Kevin (Blank)

I am pleased to say that we will be working with Kevin and hope to transform his business - which will take time.  There are no quick fixes.  As Joel always says “A smart man learns from his own mistakes, but a truly wise man learns from the mistakes of others.”  Learn from Kevin.

Thank you.

Best wishes,
Daniel M. Murphy
