I don't thing I've ever sent out a newsletter this late, but honestly, we have so much going on that my team and I have been burning both ends of the candle!
I know Dan shared information with you last week about the Union Pacific Railroad RFI for which we have receive a lot of interest. Thank you!
The UPRR contacted us out of the blue a few weeks ago inquiring about out network. Initially, we thought it was an accident or mistake, but long story short, as we were told by their Procurement Department staff, they "are looking for more professional and reliable services versus traditional shuttle or taxi services." Hence, the reason they are inquiring into the capabilities of the UMTPG.
We are continuing to share information with UPRR as they are continuing to share information and interest with us. As of right now, I anticipate their RFI being released later this month, but their Procurement manager will be sending us additional questions that we will share with you, our member-providers.
According to UPRR, some of of they have an annual revenue of $21 billion, 42 thousand employees, operate 32 thousand miles across North America, is the nation's second largest railroad company and the world's 6th largest.
UPRR is interested in our member-providers providing point-to-point transportation for their rail crews and hourly on-call vehicles serving terminals and train yards.
Some things for you to consider if you are interest in receiving a UPRR RFI and bidding via RFQ: - If you're not an active UMTPG member, join NOW by visiting us at http://www.milliondollartransportation.com/umtpgmember.html to enroll.
I know Dan said last week that you technically don't have to be, and that is what we thought. But as we've been advised by UPRR Procurement, they'll only consider our active members. We already shared with them locations of current members, but we told them we will share an updated roster on 7/15/19.
- The reason why we told them we'll share our final roster with them on 7/15/19 is because UPRR will be sending us updated preliminary questions for our member-providers which will need to be answered and return to UPRR by 7/17/19. Needless to say, as soon as we receive that info, we will get that to our active-members ASAP!
- If you haven't yet shared answers to our initial questions, please visit us at https://umtpg.org/contact-us to do so. Again, as soon as we receive the next round of questions from UPRR we will share them. I have no idea what they will be, so if some of those questions are repetitive, it is what it is.
- UPRR will be doing background checks on the companies in which they are interested in. If you do NOT yet have a website, get one ASAP! If you need help in building a website, visit us at https://umtpg.org/custom-website-design and our team of developers will be happy to assist you on a first come first serve basis. Your UMTPG membership includes the cost of hosting and SEO work so definitely take advantage!
- Once the RFI comes down, if you need help in preparing your RFQ my team and I will help those of you on a first come first serve basis. This RFI is going to be much, much bigger than the VA RFQs we've been sharing because UPRR is opening this up NATIONALLY whereas the VA RFQs we've shared thus far are for centralized locations. So to be clear, we will NOT be able to help everyone with RFQ preparation. It will definitely be a first come first serve basis, but we will discuss that task when we get closer and the RFI has been shared.
I'm 100% sure I'm forgetting some important items, but I wanted to get this information out ASAP so those of you who are serious can prepare accordingly. As we gather more information (and I remember what I am forgetting), we will send out news, info, and updates.
