Subject: The value of advice from the FATMan

Hello to all of you in the Million Dollar and Broker Communities!  As always, I hope this message finds you all doing well and business is booming!

I’m sharing the following email with you for multiple reasons:

“Recently, I purchased our very first gurney equipped van but it has turned into a nightmare. I ordered this van from a manufacturer/dealer out of state, when the van arrived it looked fine to my untrained eye but when the NEMT expert I hired to come take a look at it and train my employees he said it was not compliant. After months of going back and forth with the manufacturer and the NEMT expert things are at a standstill, they are both experts in their own right and both have a difference in opinion as to what is compliant. The NEMT expert thinks there is no resolution other than pursuing legal recourse with the manufacturer. As a small business owner, this is a very scary thought, specially when there is no guarantee of success or recouping legal expenses. What is troubling to me is that I am seeing these vans being sold everywhere so I was surprised to learn it was not compliant. I have researched all the requirements for gurney vans in my state and there isn't much to go by, so it seems to me that it is up to the opinion of the NEMT expert. I've reached out to my insurance for clarity and they refer to the same expert I hired. I feel if I do not side with the NEMT expert opinion I risk being liable in the event of a future accident because the NEMT expert I hired is often called to testify in related cases. But I am struggling with the thought of risking my business on just the opinion of one person. I am in a really tough spot and really don't know where else to turn. I am sincerely hoping for your help in sorting this out.”

In addition to me hoping YOU never find yourself in such a situation, two things quickly standout:

1. Needless to say, this entire situation could have been avoidable, but regrettably, after spending all this money on a vehicle and help from an “expert,” I’m just the last resort.  IE:  “I am in a really tough spot and really don’t know where else to turn.”

Tragic, yet SO avoidable!  I suspect my advice probably wasn’t “worth the investment.”

2. I can unconditionally guarantee you, you will NEVER find yourself in such a position (EVER - or many other precarious situations) like this as the owner of your own broker business.  But again, what do I know. My advice probably isn’t “worth the investment.”

Trust me, I’m not sharing this to tell you I’m a genius - after all, I don’t carry the title of “expert” after my name like this yahoo in her state!

But in addition to my successes that has led to FAT bank accounts, I’ve also made plenty of mistakes (including purchasing the wrong vehicle) that have led to great learning lessons that you can avoid.

BUT, what do I know. As evidence by this email, some people still seek my counsel only as a last resort when they have “no where else to turn.”

I can only imagine what the ROI on this “expert” is versus The FATMan!  C-R-A-Z-Y-ness!

See you at the Top!
