Subject: Got Added Value? Improvement? Skills?

Hello to everyone within the Million Dollar Transportation Community!
As always, I hope that this message finds you all doing well and that
business is booming!

I woke up early this morning highly motivated and very excited
because I'm such a blessed person and have some great things going
on in both my personal and business life.

While driving to the gym for a 6:00 AM workout I was thinking about
some of the messages I continuously drill into the heads of my high
school football players.

For those of you that don't know, my old high school used to
continuously bug me to help coach.  After selling my business, it was
a layup decision.  I had more time and got to do something I love -
being involved with and coaching football!

So I gotta work out - I can't look like a slouch in front of those boys!

But while driving early this morning I was thinking about how many of
the messages I share with my players corresponds to messages I
share with many of you, entrepreneurs!

When watching film, I always ask players "What added value are you
bringing to the play?"  We've all heard of athletes taking plays off -
being lazy or tired.  So I continuously beg the question of what added
value are they bringing.  Sound familiar?

If they're bringing added value then they're definitely contributing to the
team and making a difference?

Huh!  Can you see how that applies to you as an entrepreneur?
What added value are you extending to your customers to increase
business and build customer intimacy
?

How about your employees?  What added value are they bringing to
your company?  What added value are they extending to you
customers?

Another philosophy, I tell my players that they're only as good as their
last practice.  I ask "How have you improved since your last practice,
the last game?"

The same applies to you as an entrepreneur?  How have you improved
as a business owner, a leader, a visionary since last week, last month,
last year
?  What added value have you created to benefit your clients
and increase your riches?

Today is the first of October.  Happy new month.  But seriously, how is
this month going to better than the last?  The new year is going to be
here in what seems like a few minutes!  What's going to be different for
you in the new year?  How is 2011 going to be different than 2010?

Only you know or can determine the answer to these questions.  And
you know what?  They are important questions so I hope that you
seriously ask and evaluate yourself in such manner.

Here's another one that I think is very important.  I am BIG on
technique!  I stress to my athletes technique, technique, technique!

I tell them "You have to develop your craft.  It's like filling your toolbox
with tools.  The more tools and techniques you have the more versatile
you are."  On a daily basis they need to further develop and improve
their craft.  When they do, they increase their ability to dominate and
win!

The same holds true for us as entrepreneurs.  How are we developing our
leadership skills, our interpersonal skills, our effective communication
abilities?  How are we enhancing our money-making skills and
techniques
?

I teach my offensive linemen not to memorize who they have to block.
Defensive linemen and linebackers are continuously moving, stunting, and
blitzing.  I tell them, "You have to be a problem solver.  Every time you go
to the line of scrimmage you have to solve the problem."

Now how many times have I told you that just by the very fact that you're
in business, you're a problem solver!

Think about it.  If you want to make money - solve someone's problem
There are people that NEED transportation.  Fill the void and solve the
problem!

When you do, you'll make money!  Now, think about this.  Mix in some
great added value, great technique, and competent leadership in solving
someone's problem - my goodness, your business will boom - God will
lead you to prosper!

Trust me.  I could go on and on.  But I don't want to bore any of you that
think I'm crazy because I'm so passionate about football and business.
I'm sure some of you are thinking "Ok, Joel, comparing football to
entrepreneurship?  You're high on testosterone!"

But seriously, I encourage you to evaluate your today's, your motivation,
your skills and techniques.

Commit to improving and making this month better than the last.
September 2010 is in the history books, never to be seen or touched
again.  But October 2010 has yet to be written!

Commit to providing added value and increase your business.  Reach out
to your customers.  Randomly stop by and visit them when you're in the
neighborhood.  Ask them for feedback on your quality of service.  When
they know that you care, they'll care and appreciate you all the more

Sharpen you skills and techniques.  Read books.  Listen to educational
and motivational CD's in the car versus music.  Attend seminars!
Take classes.  Find mentors.  Pursue all avenues to enhance your
learning and abilities
!

Alright my people, that's my two cents for the morning!  Who knows,
with my level of enthusiasm and excitement, I'll probably bug you with |
more later!

See you at the Top!
