Subject: When you are feeling out of balance and confused…

Hi Friend,

We’ve all been there. Life was good for weeks, months, or maybe even years and then bam—suddenly everything feels like total chaos.

You can’t seem to find your way. You don’t even know how to describe yourself any more.

Every man or woman I have known who is on a true spiritual journey has, at some time in their lives, felt like the rug was pulled out from under them.

And every person I’ve known who felt that way had set an intention for change sometime just before the chaos set in.

We read about how change is supposed to be so easy when our intentions are clear. But the truth is that, for a while, things are up in the air before they get easy.

It’s actually part of the natural order.

The reason it is uncomfortable is that we have expectations that change has to happen without having to let go of anything or learning new beliefs and habits.

What we need is an understanding of how to be with change.

The evolution of creation is based on two fundamental principles: order and chaos. One is not necessarily better than another (unless we judge them) and both are required for life to evolve.

Here's what I learned about change from a school of fish.

If you’ve heard this story before, I apologize. It’s one of my favorites. ☺

I was watching a school of fish at an aquarium, swim around the tank in a clockwise direction. It was mesmerizing just to see their natural sense of order—swimming together without colliding into one another.

Suddenly, one little fish started swimming the opposite direction.

Then a few more.

And a few more.

At some point, all chaos broke out with fish swimming in two different directions (yet still without bumping into each other).

It was like that for a while, and then as if there was some internal prompt, they all started swimming the same direction—this time counterclockwise.

This continued for some time, until the process started all over again.

Granted, simply swimming the opposite direction over and over isn’t necessarily a grand step in evolution, but they lived in a tank. For all we know, it was a way to stay sane—to keep changing direction.

About 80% of the time, they swam together in the same direction. About 20% of the time there was chaos.

This aligns with chaos theory. In order for us to evolve, creation enters into states of chaos about 15-20% of the time. The rest of the time, creation exists in a state of harmony and order.

You should be concerned if you never experience chaos, because then you are not evolving or growing.

You should also be concerned if you experience chaos most of the time, because you are not allowing yourself to rest and enjoy.

If you know how to be with yourself in your chaos and your order, you find you can grow, enjoy—and like the fish—co-exist in life without bumping into others, or into yourself.

This perspective on chaos and order is why I love sharing what I’ve learned from the Grandmothers, who taught me the Path of the Sacred Feminine.

They developed simple, yet powerful, ways of being present to both of these
 forces of creation.

They learned how to explore those two energies consciously and used them to heal and manifest—to create their lives.

I was so glad when Jodi Valdes asked me to talk with her about Creating Personal and Planetary Stability with Sacred Feminine Energy.

I hope you’ll join Jodi and I for an in-depth discussion about how to use the power of yin energy to find stability in your life.

It’s free (and yes, there will be other speakers too). You’ll enjoy Jodi’s authentic, inquisitive nature.

Prayer of the Week
When the Breath and Heartbeat Are One

There is a pulse through which all things are connected, a divine current that breathes through all life.

As we follow some thread of the pulse, rhythm or frequency of our heart or breath—we move through space, time, and matter as though they have no delineations.

Past, present, future, life and death, thoughts and feelings become one movement within the present moment.
