What makes you special?
This was the really big question as I was healing from MS.
As I meditated to release the root of that condition, what kept coming back to me was a need to feel special.
I tried to deny it, thinking spiritually I was above all of that, but my emotions knew otherwise.

As soon as I surrendered and allowed myself to really see what made me special, my spiritual gifts opened up to me even further, I healed, and my sacred work became clearer.
|
|
Sometimes, we are so focused on just getting through each day—paying our bills, taking care of our physical needs, trying to improve our lives, heal ourselves, or open to new levels of spiritual awakening—that we forget to notice who we are here and now.
Years ago, I learned something very valuable while I was sitting with a client.
In the opposite place of focusing on the physical, she was in a fortunate financial position and had put all her attention on her spiritual awakening. She could enter into a powerful state of awakened consciousness.
So you might wonder why she was seeing me.
She was feeling suicidal.
She couldn’t sustain this state of awareness because she was also experiencing deep depression.
Here’s what we talked about, that might be helpful to you.

Any time we focus exclusively on one aspect of our personal medicine wheel, other areas may suffer.
|
|
She was focused on the spiritual, but her emotional body needed an opportunity to catch up to her spiritual awareness
All four areas (or bodies) need attention as we heal and awaken:
- Spiritual
- Mental
- Emotional
- Physical

|
You can emphasize one area for a while, but it can be unwise to do so at the exclusion of the others.
|
|
So, when I was meditating to heal my MS (spiritual and physical), it was my emotional body that was crying out to me.
By attending to that need to know and feel what was special about me, it opened up insights and energy in all four of the major areas of my personal medicine wheel.

|
When you know what is special about you, you recognize the tools and talents you came here with. You use those abilities to overcome your fears and limitations, and you are free!
|
|
|
|
Basically, the spiritual, mental, physical and emotional gifts that make you special are the perfect tools for you to open to fulfillment, provided you know them, use them and trust them.
Most people know their mental, physical and emotional gifts, but spiritual gifts can remain hidden all our lives, unless someone helps us recognize them.
I’m working with a client right now in understanding when particular challenges are the results of childhood wounds or not recognizing and understanding how her spiritual gifts work. It can get confusing for people!
It was confusing for me when I was healing the MS. Initially I thought my need to feel special meant my ego was out of control. And in all candor, that was part of the equation. But it wasn’t the only factor.
As I allowed myself to explore it, my emotional body was trying to help me uncover a deeper level of self-acceptance, which ultimately helped me heal.

What my spiritual body knew is that one of my gifts is in seeing what makes others special and unique. I wouldn’t be able to help others until I could see what made me special!
