I was shocked to find out how many of the systems in our
body are supported by and affected by the vagus nerve. Wow!
In order to fully address health issues like gut, immune
system or brain disorders, you want to support your vagus nerve.
Your heart rate, respiratory rate, liver, gall bladder, blood
pressure, glucose production, and many reflexes are also affected. Even PTSD
and trauma symptoms are, in part, mediated by the vagus nerve.
Chronic stress (which many of us experience these days) can
lead to low vagal tone, linked to a variety of mental and physical health issues,
including chronic inflammation, neurodegeneration, poor gut function,
autoimmunity and cancer.
