This month, we celebrate the Divine within us, in its first expression of self-awareness—sound.
The prose piece below is from an unpublished book of mystical revelations I have been writing for about 25 years now, The Everyday Mystic. It is how I experience the Divine speaking to each of us about its nature with in us.
During a time when we are seeing so much emphasis on differences, exclusion and separation, it seems appropriate to take a moment to look beyond our distinctions.

... to feel the myriad of ways the Divine loves and is within us all—as we sing our souls back home.

I am not black.
I am not white.
I am not yellow.
I am not red.
I am spirit dancing in the race you call human,
Playing through the probabilities of time and space,
Listening to my own reflection through the breath of every soul,
Singing through the channels of songs not yet remembered.
I am not woman.
I am not man.
I am spirit who wraps loving arms of protection around you.
Safe in my embrace you challenge the meaning of your existence.
I am the risk taker who walks with you to the edge of impossible and guides you safely home again.
I am spirit who nurtures your life with life itself.
Cradling you against my heart, you rest in complete acceptance.
I am the comforter who sits with you to the depths of forever and watches your soul take flight.
I am not adult.
I am not child.
I am spirit, innocent and free.
Unencumbered by the worries of what tomorrow may or may not bring, I lead you to playgrounds of possibility where your laughter sings the joy of your creations.
I am spirit, wise and responsible.
Rich with knowledge through the ages, honor and integrity mark the path of my choosing.
I invite you to be the author of your destiny where your success lies in the satisfaction of your heart.
I am not a being separate from you.
I am not a distant judge sitting upon a throne.
I am the Song of Songs longing to know myself.
I am your dreams waiting to be woven.
I am life itself singing through you.
If we could but lift back the veil of forgetfulness, we would remember—we are one song.
