I love sharing this story, because a remarkable 73-year old woman named Amelia set the standard for me as a healer and spiritual teacher.
Amelia’s story is her legacy for any of us who want to get a glimpse of our true potential as spiritual women and men.

Amelia did something amazing, and it’s something we all can do, if we understand how to be with our empathy and compassion.
|
|
|
|
|
Amelia’s daughter called me because Amelia needed to have surgery for an aneurysm. Her daughter invited me out to their home for a week, where my job was to help her mom strengthen a weak heart valve, in order to get her ready for surgery.
Now Amelia didn’t necessarily believe in this kind of energy healing stuff. But, her daughter did, and she was willing to consider the possibility.
In that spirit, I taught Amelia how to visualize, so she could use one of her spiritual gifts to help herself heal, and aid her in opening up to the healing sounds I was making for her.
The rest of each day we explored new ways to work through some of her life-long fears.
After five days, I went home.
Just a week later, I received a call from her daughter with some amazing news. X-rays showed that Amelia had grown a brand new valve to her heart!

That result was beyond anything any of us expected. I guess you could say we created a miracle.
|
|
For years, I assumed it was the combination of Amelia’s visualization and my sounding. I have no doubt those energies made a huge difference. I’ve witnessed the power of sound and visualization so many times in my life. It’s such a beautiful way to heal.
That acknowledged, I also think something else was happening.
Amelia had experienced a lot of pain in her life. Like most of us, she empathized with her pain.
When we are deeply empathic, we need to be careful with this. Over-empathizing with pain can exacerbate it, and crowd out our ability to empathize with pleasant feelings.

During our week together, we nurtured Amelia’s ability to be in heartfelt compassion for herself, so she could lovingly understand how the cycle of pain had perpetuated—and most importantly—so she could finally let go of regrets about her past.
By doing this, she was able to develop some empathy for the happier, loving moments in her life.
You already know the result. It was nothing short of fabulous!
Amelia’s legacy for me was simple. It was this, “We are more powerful than we realize. Our unique spiritual gifts combined with compassion are the magic ingredients miracles are made from.”
