Subject: Releasing trauma to be free to experience greater love…

Hello Friend!

Just days ago, some dear friends of ours had a serious electrical fire in their home. Fortunately, they all survived along with their two dogs.

But their two cats perished, and they lost almost everything they owned.

The way she and her husband are approaching this trauma is inspiring. They are using it to launch into a new beginning.

Many of us have experienced trauma in this lifetime: verbal or physical abuse; sexual abuse; debilitating accidents; divorces; separations; loss of our homes, loved ones, jobs and more.

Because we have the freedom of choice, and have the opportunity to make mistakes and learn from them, we also experience the traumas of abuse.

Traumas have a way of catching you completely off guard, and that shock can be especially devastating to empathic individuals.

Pain and loss are part of the human experience, but we don’t have to linger in the pain. We can transform our traumas into moments of awakening.

Inherent in each moment of pain, there is an element of resistance, in which the parties or energies involved are resisting the complete experience of Divine love.

It’s part of the process of evolution, so as we heal and open to greater experiences of Divine love, we help to shape the direction and nature of how humanity evolves.

In other words, we have the ability to reshape the experience of life away from trauma and toward greater ease.

The Dalai Lama once shared that he has committed lifetimes to turning moments of resistance into moments of love.

And we can do the same thing.

I’m not saying it’s easy. It was a lot of work for me to turn the memory of childhood sexual abuse into love, but it was worth it.

In my own experience, the more I make this my practice, the easier life gets.

Like my friends who lost their home and possessions, we each have the capacity to rise above the traumas we experience.

Recently, Lillian Benrubi interviewed me about my personal experience with trauma, and what I have learned helping others release their own traumas and open to greater love.

In the interview I share a couple of insights that could be helpful to you in releasing your traumas of the past:
  • The two things an empathic person should be aware of when releasing trauma.
  • The one tool that has made the biggest difference in healing from actual traumas or perceived traumas.

You can listen to this free interview in the Love Who You Are Summit, along with other interviews with tips for cultivating deeper love for yourself:

Together, we transform the very fabric of human existence as we heal the wounds that trauma has created.

Thank you for being who you are – for continuing to learn and grow in your capacity to transform moments of resistance into moments of love.

Holding you in my heart and songs,
