| Friend,
I’m going to make a true confession to you today, and I hope you can Hold it with me.
There were a couple of big changes I had to make in order to heal and open up to life’s great blessings—and they had to do with how I defined and related to God.
I grew up Catholic, and what I liked about it was the love and reverence I experienced. I got to be with a lot of really great people who were deeply dedicated to their beliefs, which included making the world a better place to live.

It was a good foundation for developing loving roots.
|
|
|
However, I also learned to think of God as being out there, looking down on me, and separate from me.
Because I saw God as all-powerful, and myself as a mere mortal, I kept praying to him asking for help that never seemed to happen.
Surrendering to God’s will felt like I was giving up my dreams and surrendering to a life of pain and disappointment.
When I was ill, that meant surrendering to the idea that my suffering was God’s will for me.
Eventually that belief became too unbearable.

I realized that the way I believed in God was too limiting for me.
|
|
I put God into a very narrow box, as a powerful being who granted some of our wishes, but not all, not even for good people.
Over time, I expanded my beliefs, giving myself permission to experience a different view of God.
I allowed myself to think of God as consciousness rather than having a gender, so I could personally relate better.
As I began relating to God as the creative power of Consciousness, I was given a vision in which I saw the light and sound of Consciousness permeating all of life, including me.
This inspired me to look further inward, opening to Divine Consciousness within me, where I discovered my ability to heal through sound.

To my delight, I realized I was already endowed with a Divine gift that could heal and create, if I chose to learn how to use it.
|
|
I had not been abandoned by God. Divine Consciousness had been within me all along, experiencing with me as I awakened to its life-giving and creative energy.
Healing and new ways of manifesting partnership, home, career and prosperity opened to me immediately as I expanded into this new view of the Divine.
|
|
But I wasn’t finished yet. ☺ The second obstacle I had to overcome was...
|
|
... the belief that God, or Divine Consciousness, was punishing me for something I had done in this life or a previous life.
