Subject: Metaphysical Meaning Behind Depression

Hello Friend,

As much as the holidays and new year can be a joyful time, they can also be a time for experiencing profound loss, and even depression.

Many of our loved ones cross over on these three days: Christmas, the day after, and New Years. You have a greater chance of dying on one of those three days than any other day of the year.

Although researchers are not sure why, more people die during the winter than any other season. So for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, the people we love are more likely to make their tpass away at this time of year than any other.

Even if you believe that your loved ones are better off having transitioned to a brighter and happier reality, those of us left behind typically experience grief, and even depression.

Of course, depression is triggered by many factors, not just the deaths of those we love. And winter, with its long, cold nights and reduced of sunshine can make life emotionally challenging.

Other factors in the winter also contribute to depression, as clearly outlined in an article on depression at health.com, including:
  • reduced exercise and activity
  • financial worries
  • holiday stress
  • poor food choices
  • feeling left out
  • too much alcohol
  • nostalgia
  • overscheduling
  • too much time at home
  • unrealistic expectations
Of course, karma, childhood abuse, and traumas all contribute to long-term depression.

As many of you know, childhood abuse and trauma played a significant role in the years of depression that I once experienced.

Many years after I was no longer experiencing depression, I wondered if there was a metaphysical meaning associated with those feelings.

My meditative inquiry gave me some insights. It seems depression does have a metaphysical, spiritual root, in addition to some of the emotional roots we have discussed here.

In an article I wrote about the Metaphysical Meaning Behind Depression, I also tracked down  information about some of the newly identified physical factors related to depression.

As you read the article, I think you'll find the insights about selective love to be especially helpful.

Some of the most freeing moments I have ever experienced in my life occurred when I finally went into the mystical realms to meet my feelings of depression with love.

As you read the article, you'll see why it helps to go deeply into ourselves in order to heal the core cause(s) of our depression.

Holding you in my heart and songs,
