Hi Friend!
As I’ve been preparing for our upcoming October retreat, In the Footsteps of Mary Magdalene, I’ve been reflecting on my time in France—literally walking in her footsteps. As I intentionally and unintentionally went to places she is said to have visited and lived, I was profoundly touched by her courage and commitment to fulfilling her destiny—even far away from her original homeland. You see, she had been exiled from her home and after a grueling journey across the Mediterranean Sea without oars, France was where Mary Magdalene found a new family and place where her teaching was received.
France became her final resting place, and the legacy she left behind can be experienced in sacred places and legends found throughout the French Mediterranean region. How many of us can relate to the feeling of being exiled or abandoned, and what it means to create a new life—a life of our choosing?
Mary Magdalene's story is in so many ways—every woman’s story.
