It’s pretty difficult to get through life these days without experiencing some kind of trauma, and when we do, it has a way of affecting us in various states of overwhelm for years. I meet with people regularly who have been struggling with the effects of trauma for the better parts of their lives. As a result of trauma they experienced as children or as adults, they frequently feel absolutely overwhelmed with the thoughts and emotions flooding their minds and hearts. It’s hard to get excited about your life when you feel mentally and emotionally overloaded. Add to that, the craziness of the world right now and you’ve got an understandable recipe for just wanting to withdraw from everything.
