After we discovered the Holding meditation, my dear friend Ariann and I started using it on a regular basis. We knew it to be a pathway to awakening. One day, I received a call from her that opened us up to an entirely new understanding of what this practice could do. You see, decades ago Ariann struggled with chronic genetic depression for 15 years. And although, she had been a meditator for 30 years, she wasn’t seeing relief from the regular bouts of depression. When I introduced her to Holding, she took to it immediately, and began doing the meditation at least once a day for 90 days. After 3 months, she called me and excitedly told me the depression was gone. “I watched it leave my body. It was like a cloud lifting up out of me. It is gone!” Years later, we were out on my porch drinking tea, and she said, “Do you remember the day I called you and told you the depression was gone? Well, it has never come back.” We were both in shock. We had no idea, this meditation for awakening could actually heal depression.
