One of the hardest things in healing is feeling disempowered, but no one has to live with that feeling of helplessness.

In my healing, one of the greatest comforts was to know that I could do something about it. Knowing I wasn’t helpless gave my mind a place to focus, so I could be instrumental in improving my condition.

Many years ago, I remember spending a day in agony, not understanding why my body was so tormented. I was studying healing with an elder at the time, so I called her asking for help. Her response astounded me and set me onto a path of empowerment.

She knew that sound medicine was one of my healing gifts and simply said,

“Sit down and heal yourself Misa.”

Now, my elder was quite compassionate and I had watched her heal many people. I’m certain she knew I needed to discover the power within me to heal myself.

I sat down gingerly in my little RV and lit a candle in the dark. I then focused my heart and attention on healing and began singing to myself until the healing song came to its close. After a good night’s sleep, I felt great again.

Sometime later I was having a difficult time with my moon cycle, when my elder provided me with a different lesson—about receiving. She graciously offered me her very powerful healing touch.

Because of her lessons, I came to realize that we are often our own best healer, even when we have the loving support of healers around us.

Each of us comes in with one or more healing gifts that—when fully recognized and activated in love—can take us into our own best healing.

That’s why I love to do Healing Readings for people dedicated to their healing. My elder affirmed my sound healing abilities and raised my confidence in my ability to heal. That’s my intention for you, as well!
