This is often something that interests people, or at least piques their curiosity, the thought of being involved in a brand new New York jazz production, from the comfort of your home, and perhaps on the other side of the world!
So what is a Producer?
Well, its very common for new projects to have a Producer from the beginning - They have them in the film industry, classical music, musical theatre... and in Jazz too!
~And yes we've decided we REALLY need some Producers for this show!

Cut to the chase?
Well, the expenses of creating and producing a show from the ground up, including the musician performance fees on the night all together far outweigh the income that even a sold out house will bring in, and are much greater than we are able to handle on our own.
Naturally the show is still going ahead no matter what, but A) we need to pay the Musicians in the band what they should be paid for their rehearsal and preparation time, as well as afford our Copyist and other expenses, and B) we are really trying to avoid beginning this beautiful project in the red by a few thousand dollars.
Whats so different about this show?
As opposed to getting a band together, practicing the music then doing the gig - this show "A Rhapsody of Gershwin" didn't exist even a month ago.. There was no music.. Everything about this show needed to be created fresh for the very first time.
I've created this baby from the ground up - beginning with a single idea, followed by a stack of research & listening, writing and arranging, then learning and practicing.
One of the biggest "physical" things I needed to create for this new show was a Library of music. A catalog of songs, arranged and scored for the six-piece band. This has all been handled by a professional Copyist - I write, I scribble down notes, I sing or play into a voice memo, or record a video of myself playing and explaining - send - and they notate it into the music software, score and arrange for the instruments, creating the library of music that will be "A Rhapsody of Gershwin"..
