I still remember that day—

January 11th, 2019.

My younger son’s birthday.

I had never missed it. Ever.

Yet, that evening, instead of celebrating at home, I sat in the grand ballroom of Sahara Star Hotel, Mumbai. The guilt gnawed at me.

I could hear his laughter in my head. I could picture the cake, the candles, the little hands clapping with joy. He turned 9.

And I wasn’t there.

I asked myself, “What am I doing here? Was this a mistake?”

And then… the founder of succes gyan, Surendran Jayasekar, looked straight at us and said something that sent a shiver down my spine:

“Some of you sitting here… will one day stand on a stage like this and change lives. But only if you stop making excuses and start finding reasons to grow.”

In that instant, my guilt turned into something else. A promise.

A promise to my son that one day, because of this choice, we’d celebrate life—not just birthdays—together, with more joy, more freedom, and more time than ever before.
