Subject: We Didn't Sign a Contract
Hey...
Wanted to share this story with you.
When I first started out in the music industry, my first legit manager and I never signed a contract.
Not for the first year, at least.
It wasn’t an oversight — it was intentional.
His approach was simple:
“If I bring you opportunities and you don’t pay me, I stop bringing them.”
No drama. No back and forth. Just mutual respect.
And guess what? I was more than happy to pay him.
He brought me the biggest placements of my career.
He fed me — and I knew better than to bite the hand that feeds me.
That year taught me something that’s still true today:
Trust is earned through action, not paperwork.
If someone’s bringing you real value, take care of them. Period.
Sometimes, the best relationships start without a contract — and end up being the most solid partnerships you’ll ever have.
Just wanted to share that with you.
Stay real,
Mig
