Subject: One Step Forward for Local Food.

Will you help us take the next?

Hello, Friend!

This is the final week of our Summer Fundraiser.

When you give to Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund, you make victories possible for farmers, ranchers, food businesses, homesteaders, and consumers.

For example: Next month, Maine’s Food Sovereignty Act will officially expand to protect the rights of producers to sell — and consumers to buy — cooked meals from home kitchens.

This change didn’t happen on its own: It was sparked by litigation brought by FTCLDF on behalf of Kenduskeag Kitchen, a home-based food business shuttered by the state. Because of that case, Maine Senator Craig Hickman introduced amendments that strengthen the Food Sovereignty Act.

This is what’s possible when we stand together: concrete wins that protect farmers, ranchers, and local food businesses from overreach while bolstering thriving local food economies.

But we have more work to do. Across the country, regulatory agencies continue to impose burdensome requirements that make it harder for small, independent producers to survive, and for consumers to access the local, healthy food they need. More members are reaching out to us for legal help than ever before.

Will you support our work today? With your help, we can deliver more victories for farmers, food businesses, and the communities they nourish.

Thank you for being part of this fight. Together, We’ve Got Your Farmer’s Back!™
