Subject: OREGON – Act Now for Rabbit Processing Bill!

Dear Friend,

House Bill 2689 (HB2689) if passed would permit slaughter and processing of 1,000 rabbits by the producer for sale direct to the consumer without a license.

Currently, law states, "While Oregon follows the USDA poultry guidelines, it does not currently include rabbits in the state law. The pending bill would add rabbits to processing permitted under the USDA 1,000 and 20,000 poultry exemption. This permits small producers to slaughter and process meat for sale directly to the consumer."

See action steps below and share this alert with your friends and family in Oregon.

In good health,

Alexia Kulwiec

Executive Director
