Subject: North Dakota – Take Action on Raw Milk Bill!

Dear Friend,

Currently, raw milk is available in the state of North Dakota only through herdshares, where each herdshare member owns part of the cow so has a right to some of its milk.

House Bill 1515 (HB 1515) if passed would legalize the sale of raw milk by North Dakota dairy farms with a Grade A permit directly to consumers for personal consumption. These sales would need to take place at the location of the dairy farm and be restricted to individual consumers. Sales to wholesalers and retail stores would remain prohibited.

HB1515 will be heard on Friday, February 10 at 9 a.m. by the House Agriculture Committee. So please act now!

TAKE ACTION #1

HB1515 will be heard on Friday, February 10 at 9 am by the House Agriculture Committee.

We suggest that you contact your House representatives asking them to support HB1515 if the bill is amended so that on-farm sales of raw dairy be permitted without a Grade A license. This would encourage production of milk specifically for human consumption, which likewise would encourage safer practices. Calls are more effective than emails.
