Subject: Meet Food of Choice, Our New Food Freedom Partner

🧑‍🌾 Celebrating National Farmer’s Day with a new ally in the movement

Hello, Friend!

On this National Farmer’s Day, I’m thrilled to introduce you to Food of Choice, Inc., a new nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting one of our most basic freedoms: the right to choose the food we grow, raise, make, purchase, and consume.

Food of Choice will...

EDUCATE

FOC will create accessible resources to help individuals understand their food rights and navigate complex food laws.

DEFEND

FOC will support legal efforts that challenge unfair or overreaching regulations that limit food choice and small-scale enterprise.

EMPOWER

FOC will connect people with the tools, information, and legal support needed to build resilient local food systems and communities.

Complementing the legal and advocacy work of Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund (FTCLDF), Food of Choice will advance food freedom through education and strategic public-interest litigation that benefits the wider food and farming community. FOC will do so as an IRS Section 501 (c)(3) organization that can obtain funding for charitable purposes.

Food of Choice has declared its purpose to be:

To create, promote, and deliver educational resources to the public and others and support public-interest litigation that protects and defends the rights of small- and mid-sized farmers, ranchers, homesteaders, hobby farmers, artisanal- and cottage- food producers, foragers, and other similarly situated agricultural and food entrepreneurs — and their respective customers — to grow, raise, produce, process, prepare, gather, obtain, buy, share, and/or sell food free from burdensome or discriminatory federal, state, and local regulations.

Whether it’s buying milk from a trusted dairy farmer, sharing foraged mushrooms with neighbors, or selling produce from your homestead, we believe these everyday acts of food independence are worth protecting.

Food of Choice is just getting started — and we’d love for you to be part of it. Please keep an eye out for future announcements and invites!
