Subject: Important Kansas Raw Milk Update: Hearings Scheduled!

View this email online if it doesn't display correctly
Hi Friend,

We have an important update to an alert we sent out earlier today regarding access to raw milk in Kansas.

Last week, we sent you an action alert about Senate Bill 300 (SB 300), which would completely ban the sale of raw (unpasteurized) milk in Kansas, and SB 308 which would place greater regulation on farms selling raw milk. Currently, raw milk is legal to sell directly from the farm.

A hearing had been scheduled for this week on the proposed bill but was cancelled. We just heard that the Senate Agriculture Committee will hear:
  • SB 300 on Wednesday February 12 at 8:30 a.m. and
  • SB 308 on Thursday, February 13 at 8:30 a.m.
Please attend both hearings if able to show your opposition for the bills, and if you haven't already, reach out to your senators and tell them that you oppose both bills. See action instructions below.

Please share this alert with friends and family in Kansas.

TAKE ACTION #2

Let your senators know that it is important to you that on farm sales of raw milk remains as is. A phone call is much more effective than an email. And remember to keep the conversation polite and to-the-point.

Don't know who represents you? Find out who represents you HERE.

Make sure to call (instead of email) your senator if he/she is one of these on the Senate Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee because SB 300 has been referred to this committee and they will hear it on Wednesday, February 12 at 8:30 a.m. and SB 308 will be heard the following morning by the same committee:
