Subject: Happy New Year! What Food Freedom Bills Are in Your State?

Dear Friend,

Happy 2021! I hope you’ve had time to relax and reflect and are ready for this new year. FTCLDF is busy making plans for 2021, and we are hopeful for a better year.

Many state legislatures go into session early in the year and we should all be prepared to make our voices heard. Last year, we sent nearly 20 action alerts to you: our valued readers, both members and nonmembers, from around the U.S. Those alerts informed you of timely, legislative matters with easy steps for taking action.

Most notably on the state level, we helped defeat two Kansas bills that would have restricted or banned the sale of raw milk in the state. Together, members, readers, and our own FTCLDF staff made a strong showing despite the difficulty in getting to these hearings.

On the federal level, we are still working on increasing access to local meat by pushing the Processing Revival and Intrastate Meat Exemption (PRIME) Act forward. The PRIME Act, if passed, would repeal the ban on sale of meat processed by custom slaughterhouses that meet state regulations and basic federal requirements.

Well, it's the start of a new year and so we're ready for the steady flurry of food freedom bills to cross our desks. We'll continue to inform you on what actions to take to be most effective about pressing legislative issues. I expect to see state level legislation regarding meat processing and will be sure to reach out.

If you hear of an upcoming bill in your state that our other readers may like to know about, please Contact Us. We need your ears to inform us!

Thanks for being a part of this food freedom community.

Have a happy and healthy start to 2021!
