First Fridays: These Are The Voyages
Free Virtual Event on Facebook Live
and in person at Longway Planetarium
Friday, November 6, 6:00-7:00 p.m.

**Please note: You do not need a Facebook account to watch a Facebook Live video.
TOMORROW at 6:00 PM EST, join us on Facebook Live or in person! Longway Planetarium's Planetarium Manager, Buddy Stark, will present.  We’ve all heard it said that historically sailors navigated by the stars. This talk will look at the specifics of how they actually went about doing this. How were sailors able to look up into the night sky and determine their position on the Earth just by the positions of the stars. After all, the stars constantly seem to move so it seems like it would be a difficult task. In truth it can be a difficult skill to learn but once you understand some of the ideas at play, and are willing to memorize a few key stars, anyone can use the sky to navigate their way on the globe.

Join us every first Friday of the month for talks on astronomy and local science topics. First Fridays at Longway Planetarium are funded in part by the Genesee County Arts Education and Cultural Enrichment Millage. Your tax dollars are at work.
