Thanksgiving Weekend and Holiday Happenings at the Planetarium!
Happy Thanksgiving! We give thanks to all of you for supporting us in our mission to engage communities on a learning journey in history and science! 

We are closed on Thanksgiving Day, but OPEN Friday, Saturday and Sunday this weekend with a special new show schedule. Plus, a sneak peek at some upcoming special planetarium programs in December.

Cosmic Christmas Light Show 
This family favorite is back, starting November 25!
Fri/Sat/Sun 4 p.m. and Fri/Sat 7 p.m.
This light show features 16 songs to fill you with cheer, including holiday classics, some new hits and a few fun oddities, all set to stunning 4k visuals in a festival of holiday splendor. Great for adults and kids ages 6 and older.


The Queen Light Show: From Mercury with Love
A music lover's favorite is returning, November 25!
Fri/Sat 8 p.m.
This crowd-pleasing show allows audiences to experience the magic of Queen in an immersive full-dome environment. Enjoy 10 of Queen’s greatest hits, including favorites like Bohemian Rhapsody, Another One Bites The Dust, and You’re My Best Friend, all set to amazing visuals.

First Friday: The Search for Life in the Universe
Friday, December 2, 6 p.m.
Are we alone in the Universe? How did we get here? These questions have been asked by scientists and philosophers alike for millennia and form some of the core tenants of astrobiology, the field of science that focuses on the search for life outside of Earth. Join Dr. Andrew Gangidine, Curator of Earth and Space Sciences at Cranbrook Institute of Science, to learn how NASA and other scientists around the world are searching for life near and far.

December's Cultural Astronomy live show is "Winter Solstice Celebrations." Across the globe, cultures have celebrated traditions on the shortest day of the year - the Winter Solstice. Hands-on Workshops and Winter Break Day Camps

Check out all the Fall/Winter 2022 Hands On Camps and Science Workshops. You'll enjoy family workshops like Snowy Science and Welcome Winter, and December break day camps like Sun & Moon for 1st-3rd graders, and Stars & Planets for 4th-6th graders. All hands-on workshops and camps are at the new Sloan Museum of Discovery or Longway Planetarium. Our workshops now also include book clubs, After Hours 21+ maker activities, and new STEM based Winter Camps.

Sunday: Noon-5 p.m.
