March Happenings at Sloan Museum and Longway Planetarium
March Madness has a whole new meaning at Sloan and Longway! Adult Hobby Workshops and Book Clubs, hands-on kids' workshops for Spring Break, and dinosaurs at both Sloan Museum and Longway Planetarium for a limited time only, featuring Ice Dinosaurs exhibit at Sloan and T.Rex in the planetarium dome. For advance planning, both the museum and the planetarium will be open March 30-April 4 over Spring Break week (closed for Easter Sunday, April 5). Real Fossils Exhibit, by PaleoJoe and PaleoJen 
Opens through April 4, 2026
Longway Planetarium - Saturn Classroom
This FREE exhibit highlights real dinosaur bones and a "mini" lab that provides a snapshot of the tools, equipment and glues used to make the fossil bones recognizable and presentable to the public.

Ice Dinosaurs:The Lost World of the Alaskan Arctic, now open at Sloan Museum through May 3!
ICE DINOSAURS is a new temporary exhibit that features animatronic dinosaurs and groundbreaking discoveries about the unique adaptations of polar dinosaurs that lived in cold, dark, and snowy conditions year-round. Early-on Free Family Fun Night
Thursday, March 12, 5-7 p.m. at Sloan Museum
Early On of Genesee County and Sloan Museum of Discovery have partnered again to offer free family fun to the community on select Thursdays throughout the year. Includes at least 2 hands-on activities relating to the seasons, exploration of Hagerman Street Gallery, the Discovery Hall’s Water Table, and dinner. These events are kindly recommended for families with children aged 0-5 years-old. Older siblings are welcome to attend. Learn more here.
LEGO® Club - Drop-in Building Challenge

Step into the Discovery Lab Maker Space for Sloan's once a month building challenge, open to LEGO®-enthusiasts of all ages! LEGO®club is FREE, included with museum general admission.

Meet your host Miss Jacquie by the tree house in Hagerman Street! The Book Club is free (included with General Admission to the museum).

Historical Book Club Meetup
Saturday, March 21, 10-11 a.m
Featured book: The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, bySherman Alexie
Free (included with General Admission to Sloan Museum). Historical Book Club meetups will conclude with a special guided tour through the Sloan Museum History Gallery where club members can connect with the book's historical references through real-life museum artifacts.

To accommodate our community with family fun activities and workshops over Spring Break week, Sloan Musuem and Longway Planetarium will be open March 30-April 4 (closed Easter Sunday, April 5).
