August First Fridays to Highlight Astronomer Vera Rubin
First Fridays at the Planetarium to Highlight the works and findings of Astronomer Vera Rubin

Vera Rubin (1928–2016) was an American observational astronomer. Her meticulous research into the rotation of galaxies helped convince the astronomical community of the existence of dark matter, which had huge implications for models of the expanding Universe. In this special First Friday live presentation, you'll learn about Vera Rubin's career, her evidence for dark matter, and the Vera C. Rubin Oberservatory (LSST) that is expected to see first light in 2024. Presented by Longway Planetarium Manager Patrick Ross, M.S.
