We'll help you squeeze out every last drop of summer fun this August! Let's start with bringing back the beloved Great Lakes Water Table, returning to action August 2nd with a new glacier, an enhanced floor and better drainage for an even more delightful interactive experience! The Hall of Heroes special exhibit runs through September 7 in the FUN Gallery. Behind the Panels on August 2 is an an 18+ after hours event celebrating comic books and vintage collectibles. Take the whole family to the new FREE Community STEM Nights starting August 14, 5-8 p.m. or bring your little hero to the Hero Hangout to enjoy a morning of fun with the Black Panther and Captain Marvel on August 16!

Hall of Heroes Interactive Exhibit at Sloan Museum of Discovery through September 7

The Hall of Heroes special interactive exhibit runs through September 7. This fun exhibit brings you into the world of superheroes, crime-fighters, gadgets, and spies through an immersive experience of comic book superhero characters. The Hall of Heroes exhibit add-on ticket is only $5 per person plus general admission* (kids under age 2 and Members of Sloan and Longway get free exhibit and museum entry). For more information go to SloanLongway.org/Heroes.

*Note: For residents of Genesee County, general admission is always free, thanks to the Genesee County Arts Education and Cultural Enrichment Millage that voters passed in 2018. 
 
After Hours 18+ Event, Behind the Panels on August 2

Unleash your inner superhero (or villain!) and join us for an epic night of geeky fun and grown-up flair at our Beyond the Panels-After Hours event! This adults only (age 18+) event will have something for every fandom. Browse a selection of comic books and vintage pop culture collectibles. Grab a superhero themed cocktail from the cash bar to enjoy while you check out the vendor tables, or take part in one of the tabletop games. Admission to the Hall of Heroes exhibit included. Thursday - August 14, 5-8 p.m.
Hands-on activities over several science stations to test your superhero abilities! Learn how simple machines made from pulleys and levers can make us stronger. Build a hover craft. Play with things that fly, and more! All ages and families are encouraged to attend this fun and free evening of interactive science! Presented by the Education team.THIS EVENT IS FREE TO ATTEND. Hang Out with a Superhero for a Super Breakfast Adventure! 

A Hero Hangout where little heroes (and their grown-ups!) can enjoy a delicious breakfast on August 16 to supercharge you for your adventure. PLUS, a meet-and-greet with a real-life superhero, a craft to help show your heroic abilities, and admission to The Hall of Heroes exhibit! Superhero costumes are encouraged. New Online Research Tool Makes Finding Flint Easier

Did you know that the Sloan Museum Archives proudly collects and preserves historical photographs, manuscripts, ephemera, audio visual materials, scrapbooks and other unpublished materials from Flint and Genesee County? Our historical collection covers three main areas of focus: local history and the automotive industry in Flint, The Flint Journal staff archives, and institutional history. Sloan's new "Finding Flint" searchable online research tool allows you access to some of these 35,000 images and 800 linear feet of maps, unpublished histories, letters, reports and other evidence of daily life in Flint.
