Sloan's Volunteer Spotlight - Kim

Kim is so friendly & easy to work with. I can give her a project & she will run with it on her own. She asks questions, communicates well, and stays busy. I would not be doing as well as with Auto Fair if Kim wasn’t here to help me. I really appreciate her time, skills, and efforts.” - Cathy Gentry, COO

Our volunteer, Kim, primarily helps with administrative work for the Sloan Museum Auto Fair, including contacting community members for sponsorships. She says she volunteers with us to give back to the community and to keep her mind and skills sharp. Volunteering also gives her an opportunity to learn new things while meeting great people. Kim loves meeting with visitors and talking with them about the museum and the whole Flint Cultural Center Campus.

When Kim isn’t volunteering at Sloan Museum of Discovery, she volunteers to review scholarships for Lansing Community College and works part-time consulting. She enjoys hiking with her dog and spending time with her husband at their cottage in Northern Michigan or at car shows. Her favorite thing to do is bring her granddaughter to the Flint Institute of Arts.

Thank you to Kim, and to ALL of our volunteers! If you are interested in volunteering with either Sloan Museum of Discovery or Longway Planetarium, learn more at SloanLongway.org/Volunteer
Sloan Museum is Now a Museums for All Member

Sloan Museum of Discovery is now a "Museums for All" member! The Museums for All program helps reduce financial barriers of low income families that may prevent them from attending museums. For all Genesee County residents, general admission to Sloan Museum is free due to the Arts Education & Cultural Enrichment millage that was passed in 2018. Now, we also have something to help out-of-county patrons who receive food assistance from SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Progam). Through our participation as a Museums for All member, the general admission fee is just $3.00 for up to 4 individuals per SNAP Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card, and a valid form of photo ID. It's that easy! To learn more about Museums for All, go to Museums4All.org
