Subject: A Special "Lord of the Rings" Inspired Cultural Astronomy this Friday, June 9!

Attention Middle Earthlings! Lord of the Rings inspired Cultural Astronomy June 9!
Calling all Hobbits, Middle-Earthlings, and Humans who Like Astronomy!

Longway Planetarium presents a very special June 9 Cultural Astronomy, inspired by the famous J.R.R. Tolkien Lord of the Rings epic fantasy novels.

"A Elbereth Gilthoniel: An Astronomical Journey Through Middle-Earth," will be presented by Planetarium Manager Patrick Ross as the final installment of the Cultural Astronomy lecture series. Ross will dive into the rich astronomical lore found in J.R.R. Tolkien's world of Middle Earth. References about the sky found in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hobbit, and The Silmarillion will be examined to see how this famous author tied typical astronomical stories, such as the creation of the Sun and Moon, to his world in a stroke of masterful worldbuilding.
