My Uncle wants me to find a wife.
I’m in my early 30s, and according to Nigerian culture, I’m about 7 years past due for something that resembles an “adult life”.
I’m also the oldest male in my generation, which means that I’m next in line to “run sh*t” when my Uncle steps down from his role as head Patriarch of the fam.
That’s quite a bit of responsibility for a guy that just wants to fly First Class to exotic places, eat food from a chef that came up with the menu that morning, make beautiful art, and have profound, pillow-based conversations with warm lighting and Isaac Hayes cooing in the background.
But maybe it is time for me to try on new clothes. I’ve been wearing these bachelor jeans for some time, and I have to admit that “slowing down” does sound appealing at times.
I don’t know.
I’m figuring myself out right now.
