Łona, Webber, and the Pimps at the Second Stage

Coming from Szczecin, a coastal city in the west-north of Poland, Łona and Webber are a rap duo formed by the rapper Adam Zieliński a.k.a. “Łona” and Andrzej Mikosz a.k.a. “Webber”. Last year marked the tenth anniversary of their debut album “Koniec Żartów [Enough with the Jokes], released by Asfalt Records, a label known for ambitious hip-hop projects.

Łona’s remarkable style is characterized by intelligent humor and Webber’s production style alludes to classic New York stylistics often combined with analog synthesis. The lyrics, with their uncommon sensitivity and scathing wit can be classed as intellectual hip-hop, and the artist is often playing with the sounds and grammar of the language.

“Łona, Webber & The Pimps” is a concert project in which the duo is accompanied by instrumentalists who set Webber’s music in completely new arrangements. The sound of live instruments is a remarkable change, very rare in the Polish hip-hop community. The Pimps have four members: Jose Manuel Alban Juarez (percussion), Michał Kowalski (keybord instruments), Daniel Popiałkiewicz (guitar), and Maciej Kałka (bass).

Kabanos to host AFA music workshops

Kabanos will host music workshops within AFA activities. The participants will then take part in the closing concert of the festival and will perform on the Main Stage together. The workshops are open to all musically-inclined guests of the festival, who would like to learn something new, and then, perform at the closing show of the festival on the Main Stage.

Kanos (a variery of Polish dried and smoked sausage) first stepped into the limelight in 2000 owing to their cottage-industry covers of old rock-metal hits with absurd, drunkard lyrics sprinkled with quotations from legendary Polish comedy films. Their music is a curious mixture of rock, punk and heavy sounds with murmurous lyrics and light-hearted attitude.
