I can’t believe I’m going to bring this topic up, but I have to.
Between Michael Jordan or LeBron James — who’s better?
Yea, I know, 2 different eras… but still it’s a topic we ALWAYS will debate. For myself, I’m a Jordan fan all the way, and consider him the greatest Basketball player of all time. He’s the G.O.A.T.!!!
But, MJ had to pay a price to become the greatest. And, it wasn’t cheap.
See, when Michael entered the league he was a phenom. Fast, agile, smart, quick. But — he lacked something else. Power. Strength. Durability.
When Jordan started to take the Bulls to the playoffs, he had to go through Detroit and play “The Bad Boy Pistons”. And, every year the Bulls would get beat. Or Jordan would NOT come through. Or… he even got hurt! But, no one knows that story.
And, we all know how much Jordan didn’t (and still doesn’t) like to lose.
Well, the last time Jordan ended up losing a series to the Pistons was the LAST time too.
What did he do differently?
He hired a coach. No… Phil was already there. He hired a trainer to prepare his body physically to take a beating from the Pistons. The following season, Jordan came back Bigger. Stronger. Powerful. And durable.
Long story short, Jordan and the Bulls beat the Pistons, and the Bulls dynasty began.
Why is this story important?
Even the greatest basketball player of all time needed a coach to take him to the next level.
He had all the skill-sets, determination, coach (The Zen Master)… everything. But, he was missing 1 piece of the puzzle.
