Hello,

August will be here before we know it and I wanted to give you a quick update.

I'm on several eclipse related Facebook groups and momentum is building for the special event. Spain is going to be a popular place, it is a great location and fortunately the eclipse crosses the whole country so people won't be crowded into one place.

I going to Spain again next month to do some final scouting. I know where my #1 location is but i want to have a couple of backups.

We are going to start in Barcelona and our hotel will be Negresco Princess. There lots to shoot and see in Barcelaona including the old city, Park Guell with its panoramic view of the city plus really cool buildings, some designed by Antoni Gaudi. I don't get wowed easily but touring Gaudi's Casa Batlló blew me away. His Basilica Sagrada Família is scheduled to be finished in June. I only made tourist photos at Casa Batlló but the basilica can make for photos that are worthy of hanging on your wall. We can shoot those from the outside anytime but we'll need to schedule tours to go inside and they charge for that. I'll get final details while I'm there and we'll want to schedule our tours next month. Watch for more details.

After leaving Barcelona on Tuesday we'll drive out to Zaragoza where we'll photograph the eclipse. I had planned on taking the train to Zaragoza but I can't get the vans we need once we get there. So we'll load up in Barcelona and make the 3.5 hour drive, we'll do some shooting on the way.

Once in Zaragoza we're staying for two nights at Hotel Pilar Plaza which is walking distance to our eclipse shoot. On our first day we'll practice for the eclipse. Wednesday is eclipse day. There is also plenty to shoot within walking distance of the hotel.

Thursday we are going to the town of Huesca and staying at the Abba Hotel for three nights. This is one of the darkest areas of Spain and will be the base of our nighttime Milky Way shoots. We'll go to ancient ruins and old castles for our foregrounds. It will be pretty cool and very different.

On Sunday we drive back to the Barcelona airport and end our adventure. We'll be there by 11:00 at the latest.
