How photography helps me see the good
Spring is finally here, and I can feel everything starting to wake up again. The days are a little longer, the birds a little louder, and the trees are starting to show some life. It always lifts my spirits and makes me want to grab my camera and head outside. There is something about watching the world come back to life that feels fresh and full of possibility. After a long stretch of gray, it is a welcome change to see color returning to the landscape. I can't wait until my favorite birch grove is vibrant like the photo above.

Nature and landscape photography help me see things in a more positive light. It is easy to miss the small, quiet changes when we are busy, but photography slows me down. I notice the first wildflowers, the light on new leaves, or even just the way water moves in a stream. Being out in nature with my camera helps me focus on what is going right in the world, even when things feel overwhelming. It is a kind of therapy I count on, and spring always gives me plenty to work with.

This time of year is also when I feel inspired to create and to share that inspiration with others. Whether it is through a workshop, a new blog post, or just a photo that made me smile, I hope what I see through my lens brings some of that same energy your way. Spring reminds me that beauty is always returning, and that every new season brings its own kind of magic.

The Art of Seeing: A New Way to Look Through the Lens

I created this workshop to help photographers move beyond just pointing and clicking. In The Art of Seeing, we focus on truly observing the world around us and turning everyday scenes into powerful photographs. Through four online sessions starting May 19, I’ll guide you in sharpening your eye, thinking more intentionally about composition and finding beauty in unexpected places. Each week includes creative assignments and group discussions on Zoom that are fun and supportive. Whether you are just starting out or looking to push yourself creatively, this workshop is designed to change the way you see. Space is limited to keep it personal. More info and registration is at
