Some things just never get old |
| | Jenne Farm is just down the road from me and is one of the most photographed farms in America. There's a reason: It looks great at sunrise. When I first came to Woodstock I heard about the farm and went there one afternoon. It looked like a rather boring farm that was kinda run down. I gave it another try and still wasn't impressed. Then someone told me I needed to be there at sunrise. I gave it a try and discovered the magic. As the sun comes up over the hills it lays down beautiful shadows and highlights. I was hooked. I can't tell you how many times I've been there, I take many groups and last month I went with my annual Vermont Winter Wonderland workshop. The lesson became rather obvious, don't give up on first glance, keep pushing.

| | We're heading to France I was able to get a workshop scheduled in October for the semi-wild white horses of Camargue, France. I sent out a few emails to people who had expressed interest in the workshop after my last newsletter and it filled up in a day. I'm doing another version next year May 31-June 7. We are starting the workshops with a few days in Paris, photographing the city in a way that is famous for, the lights. Then we take the train down to Camargue for several shoots with the white horses plus we'll photograph black bulls and go out to a nature preserve for flamingoes and other birds. We stay in a historic town that is walled, so there is plenty to shoot everywhere you look. To grab that final spot go to https://www.lorenphotos.com/product/camargue-horses-2026/. But if you don't get in, be sure to let me know you're interested in case I have cancellations. |
| | | Fun with refraction and water drops OK, they're actually drops of glycerin but that makes a boring headline. As part of my Indoor Photography Series I challenged people to try photographing some drops on glass with items beneath refracting in the water. I did some shots with my iPhone and it is always a lot of fun. You can see more of my creations on my Journal at https://www.lorenphotos.com/gallery/playing-with-drops-and-refractions/ |
| | Thinking ahead to autumnMy Vermont Fall Foliage workshop is one of my favorites, there is no place prettier than Vermont in autumn and Woodstock can't be beat as a host location. We photograph foliage in well known places but also spots that I have found where other photographers won't discover. Plus I take everyone out for an evening of lighting up an island with the mountains behind it. That is always a crowd pleaser. There are a few spots left, you can learn about the workshop and register at https://www.lorenphotos.com/product/vt-fall-foliage/ |
