Fun in the dark
One of my favorites workshops is when I bring photographers to Vermont to photograph the night sky and do some light painting. I really enjoy taking people out and seeing stars shining bright and seeing the full arch of the Milky Way. I've done the workshop many times and we always get a wonderful Milky Way photo - until this year. For the first time we had rain or clouds every night. It takes a lot of the thrill out of workshop but we still get out and photograph the "Blue Hour" that 20 minutes or so after sunset when the sky becomes a dark shade of blue. I get out my flashlights and light up some fun things, like covered bridges, barns, an old rusty car and more. Lots of people don't bother to go out and photograph landscapes if there is a little rain. It can actually be fun and gives photos a different look. If you are prepared to keep yourself and your camera dry, photographing in the rain can be very rewarding.
Those are the breaks
Summer was off to a get start in Vermont so my wife, Robin, and I went for a nice little bicycle ride on the quiet dirt roads in Woodstock. As I was coming down a hill rather fast I hit a rut and then some loose gravel. I lost control and tumbled down the road. It was one of those surreal experiences, I remember rolling and thinking I was glad I had my helmet on as I scraped some gravel off the road. I laid there a minute thankful I could think. I noticed my left ankle hurt a bit and as I tried to get up I couldn't put any weight on it as I hopped out of the middle of the road. I sat on the bank and noticed it was a cemetery. A bit eerie. Robin was in front of me and came back to see where I was and noticed I was a bit white. She pedaled home and came back with the car and we went to the hospital where Xrays showed two broken bones in my ankle, one break is clean and the other is in pieces. Fortunately I don't need surgery but I'll be in a cast for another five weeks and then hobbling a bit. I canceled my July night workshop but everything else is on schedule.

A spot has opened for Namibia
I had a cancellation for my Sept. workshop in Namibia, Africa. Namibia is a special place, there are the big African animals, like lions, cheetahs, elephants and giraffes but there are awesome landscapes like huge pink sand dunes and a unique forest of dead trees. We have one of the best photography guides in Namibia taking us to best they have to offer. It will be a special trip, you can get more info and grab the open spot at https://lorenphotos.com/product/namibia/
Another VT Fall Foliage Workshop

My annual Vermont Fall Foliage Workshop sold out before Christmas and I've many requests, so I'm adding another session on Oct 10-14. Depending on Mother Nature, we may go to the same locations as the first session or we may go to other spots. One great thing about Vermont is there are plenty of great places to make foliage pictures and I know a ton of them! We'll again be based in Woodstock, where I live and if the leaves aren't looking good north of here then we'll go south. No matter where we go, it will be fun. This one is filling up fast so if you are interested you can get more info and register at https://lorenphotos.com/product/vt-fall-foliage-2/

Two spots open for Iceland in August
I had cancellations so there are two spots remaining for my August 12-18 workshop in Iceland. As a special bonus, friend and long-time pro photographer Brian Horton is assisting me on the workshop so you'll have two pros helping you with anything you need photo wise. We'll photograph lots of massive waterfalls, black sand beaches, ice diamonds, glaciers, lagoons, Icelandic horses and, of course, cute little puffins. Plus a lot more. I hope you can join me, you can get more info at https://lorenphotos.com/product/iceland-summer-photography-workshop/
