Travel insurance: I break it down
Having travel insurance is highly recommended any time you travel, especially for international trips. It is a cheap way to protect yourself, especially if you become sick or injured. There are many options for insurance, from getting money back for a cancelled trip to evacuation from a foreign country. Just imagine what it would cost if something happened while in a distant land and you needed a medical flight back home. I wrote a blog post about what to look for and where to get it, if you're a traveler it is something you need to think about. https://lorenphotos.com/page/travel-insurance/
Florida birds in March?
I'm working on putting together a Florida trip in mid March to photograph mainly birds. I love photographing the birds during mating season as they take on wild plumage and crazy colors. My wife and I recently purchased a second home in Florida and I'll be spending much more time there, especially in the Vermont off season.

I've done Florida birding workshops in the past and know lots of great places. One of my trues passions is wildlife photography and if I could make a living doing it I would. Since I'll be in Florida much more I'll be doing lots more wildlife.

The workshop would be 5-6 days and we'll travel around a bit and I'm working on the detail. But I need to see how interest there is before committing to hotels. Let me know if it something you'd be interested in and I'll see if I can put it together.
VT Fall Foliage Workshop openings

I just had two cancellations for my annual Vermont Fall Foliage Workshop Oct. 2-6. It is a fun time and always is good for some great photos. Since the workshop was sold out before Christmas I added another session on Oct 10-14. Depending on Mother Nature, we may go to the same locations as the first session or we may go to other spots. We'll again be based in Woodstock, where I live. If you are interested you can get more info and register at https://lorenphotos.com/product/vt-fall-foliage-2/

Printing Your Photos Master Workshop
When you get that killer shot that deserves to go on the wall you want to make sure you bring everything out of the print that you can. High end print professionals go beyond global adjustments and work on fine details that can be subtle but will make the ultimate print shine. Starting Oct. 19, I'll show you how to get the most out of your file. It is in intimate online workshop where we have two group sessions and then a one-on-one session where we work on your image. You then get a 24X36 inch print of that image. Click here to learn more.
Photoshop for Photographers
Photoshop is the ultimate image editing tool and is a complex beast. Learning it is intimidating and can be frustrating due to its extreme power. But most photographers don't need to know everything Photoshop does. There are several tools that are extremely beneficial, a few things that wouldn't be bad to know but aren't essential and then there is a ton of stuff that few photographers really need but graphic designers would use. This online workshop is Aug. 27 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. and helps photographers get up to speed with Photoshop. AI comes to Photoshop
If you haven't seen what Photoshop is doing with Generative Artificial Intelligence, you'll be shocked. I'm not easily impressed but this technology is a game changer. It could change the way I shoot pictures in the future and how I edit. It isn't quite ready for full release, which is why it is in beta stage now, but when it is ready it will make the believability of every photo come into question. That will be quite the discussion when it happens.

I just did an online seminar showing how the AI works, you can watch the video at https://lorenphotos.com/gallery/photoshop-beta-intro/

Acadia National Park, here we come again
The perfect location for a photography workshop is Acadia National Park in Maine. Acadia is a special place, the unique rocky shore, Cadillac Mountain, pristine ponds, old buggy trails and beauty everywhere you look. It is a favorite place for photographers and tourists, so we’ll go before the summer crowds arrive. We'll be based in Bar Harbor and making daily journeys into the park including lighting up Bass Harbor lighthouse. Join me June 3-7. Click here for more info
2024 Vermont Night Skies Workshop
Join me Aug. 2-4, 2024 as we get away from city lights and explore photographing at night, astrophotography and light painting. You don’t have to head out west to find darkness, we’ll go to remote Vermont locations that offer tremendous views of the sky.
