Date correction for Peru trip
I'm not sure why, but I had the wrong date for the Peru and Machu Picchu trip in the newsletter that just went out, I was off by a week. The correct date is Nov. 6-13, 2021 and there is an optional three day pre-extension if you'd like to explore more of the Lima area. Sorry for the confusion.
Now that most of the snow is gone and I'm getting my second covid shot on Saturday, I'm really starting to think about traveling again. I know many people will be hesitant to hop on an airplane for a long ride this year, so I'm doing more domestic workshops to make it easier for people to attend. And even though I'm still going to Iceland in August and Peru in November, I'm focusing more on New England and specifically Vermont.

My first Vermont workshop is June 15-19 and I'm pretty confident that Vermont will be allowing vaccinated people to come to the state without any restrictions. I'm looking forward to that workshop, it is going to be a little different, I'm making it feel a bit like a summer camp and that's why I'm calling it the Vermont Getaway. There won't bead making and canoeing, we'll be out making photos of the best Vermont has to offer. We will have a campfire cookout at my house and a fun picnic lunch beside a private pond where we'll feel like we are the only people around - which we will be. It will be a great time and we'll make some wonderful pictures while following the latest CDC guidelines for safety.

In July and August I'm doing my annual Night Skies and Light Painting workshop where we'll photograph the Milky Way and the stars and work on lighting big objects, like barns, covered bridges and trees, with a flashlight. I'll have my arsenal of flashlights from small to huge and we'll also delve into special post processing techniques to bring out the best of your shots. See the bright Vermont night sky is always a thrill.

June 2-6 is my workshop in Maine's Acadia National Park, which is always beautiful, but is special in early June. It is still late spring then and things are that lovely light green. The crowds aren't there yet so getting around is easy and so is staying away from other people. I only have two spots left, so make your plans now.

Lightroom and Photoshop classes online
A reality of digital photography is that all images need post production to maximize the image's full potential. Lightroom has become the standard for a good reason, it does a great job and it is pretty easy to learn. In April, I have two online classes focusing on the Develop module, one for those starting out and one for folks with some experience.

Then I have a Photoshop for Photographers class on two nights, April 28 & 29 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Since Photoshop is a such a powerful program, photographers don't need to know most of it, so I concentrate on what helps photographers the most. We talk about the basics, go into cloning and object replacement and I show you some fancy but easy tricks that will amaze you. It is a lot of fun when you understand it!

Iceland in August could be extra special
Iceland is one of my favorite places and the recent volcanic eruption is extremely exciting. It isn't one of those dangerous eruptions that blows the side off a mountain, this one is a lava flow that just looks cool. It is within a few miles of this beautiful church that is painted black and in an area I have been to many times. Hopefully it will still be flowing in August for my Summer in Iceland workshop, but if not, we'll still have all the other beauty of Iceland to photograph.
Looking forward to Peru in November
Photographing Peru and Machu Picchu is something every photographer should consider. We have one of Peru's top guides taking us to famous and out of the way places. It will be one of those trips you'll never forget. We go there November 6-13.
Fall foliage in Vermont
I have traveled to many places and photographed lots of special places but none are better than Vermont in October. Over the last 15 years I've driven thousands of miles in the state finding those special places that you only come across when you are lost. The 2021 workshop is Oct. 4-8 in Woodstock, VT.
