A Note from Gallery owners Michael Carroll and Tonya Turner
Fall and Winter are traditionally considered times of contraction, when the temperatures fall, days shorten, and life moves inward. Turner Carroll celebrates this season of contemplation with Expansion Theory, featuring the works of Igor Melnikov and Edward Lentsch. Igor is a Russian-born painter whose intention is to invoke emotional reactions. Doll-like children inhabit stark landscapes with an overall atmosphere reminiscent of a long forgotten dream.
The works of Edward Lentsch are contemplative surfaces in and of themselves. Their deeply textured compositions result from the natural expression of media in the manner of primordial creation. He mixes earth, raw pigment, and other natural materials to create atmospheric works of cosmological scale. It is possible and necessary to explore each of these artists' works for extended amounts of time, guiding us through our own inner expansion. The opening reception will be held November 4th from 5 to 7pm; join us! |
