I know this email might ruffle some feathers, but hear me out—I’m not here to shame anyone for enjoying a cocktail now and then. I am here to challenge the kind of overindulgence that turns a fun night into a game of “Where amI?” followed by “Why am I in jail?”
Someone sent me a new study ranking U.S. states by their drinking habits, and—drumroll, please—Wisconsin has once again clinched the title of Drunkest State in the Nation! As a counselor of 35 years (and a lifelong Wisconsinite), I can’t say I’m shocked. We’ve held this title before, and considering we also have one of the highest suicide rates, it’s not exactly a championship to celebrate.
And since today is Super Bowl Sunday, I can’t help but wonder—how many Super Bowl parties don’t have a buffet of booze on standby? Anyone? I am sure there are a few but i can tell you that I was never one of them.
Look, I get it—Wisconsinites love their beer, brats, and football. But maybe today, instead of keeping up our drinking record, we start a new trend: Remembering the entire game and waking up without regrets. Just a thought. Stay safe and enjoy the game!
My prayers are with you! Linda |
