Two Opponents for One Faith
There is an interesting symbol for the Church of Rome. It is a picture of Sts Peter and Paul looking squarely at each other. The picture implies opposition and competition. It is the symbol of two adversaries facing off against each other. Sts. Peter and Paul may have faced off against each other during their lifetimes, but each made critical contributions to the Church that have stood the test of time. Their faith became the bedrock of our faith.

apostolic-times.com continues with context for the season's readings. In Acts 12, St. Peter was freed from prison by an angel. In 2 Timothy, the author looked back on his life as a competition for heavenly glory. In Matthew 16, Jesus asked his disciples the question of faith.
The video for this Sunday comes from the Twenty First Sunday in Ordinary Time, Cycle A. How do you deepen friendships? This question is addressed in the Gospel Story "Getting to Know Him." This is a three minute video with a short story of a life situation, a moral from the gospel and a reflection question.
